Visual Colour Comparator: AF 710-3

The Lovibond AF 710-3 is a precision visual colour comparator specifically designed for the colour grading of oils and fats according to the AOCS Official Method Cc 13b-45 (Wesson Method).

The AF 710-3 determines colour by visually comparing light transmitted through a column of oil with light transmitted through a calibrated combination of AOCS-Tintometer® red and yellow glass standards. The glass filters are adjusted until a precise visual match is achieved, and the colour is then expressed in AOCS-Tintometer® Red and Yellow units, ensuring direct compliance with the specified method.

The instrument’s optical system provides two non-overlapping circular fields of view, as required by the AOCS method, enabling accurate side-by-side comparison without visual interference.
